ORNET Sdn Bhd is introducing to you the Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS), a rapidly growing elemental analysis technique based on laser ablation technology, at Lab Asia 2015.
LIBS provides a fast multi-element, spectroscopic analysis from a micro-plasma from the sample surface by a focused laser beam. The primary advantage of LIBS is the ability to directly analyse a wide range of solid samples without sample preparation. When it is coupled with ICP-MS, the laser ablation also provides direct solid sampling capability for trace elemental/isotopic analysis down to parts per billion level. These two techniques provide many advantages over more conventional analytical techniques such as AAS, ICP-AES and ICP-MS by eliminating extensive sample preparation involving acid digestion, providing spatially resolved analysis, and increasing analysis throughput.
ORNET Sdn Bhd has invited Dr Jong Yoo, the Executive Vice President, General Manager and Co-Founder of Applied Spectra Inc, as a guest speaker to share with you everything about LIBS and LA-ICP-MS. Dr Jong Yoo served as a Principal Investigator for several DOD and DOE SBIR/ STTR programs and successfully transitioned the developed technologies into product launch of ASI LIBS (Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) and LA (Laser Ablation) instruments for commercial industries. Dr. Yooreceived his B.S. and Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley and his M.S. from Stanford University, all in Mechanical Engineering.
