Message From President of Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (IKM)

altI am pleased to announce that Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM) is organising LabAsia 2011 from September 27-29, 2011 at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. LabAsia 2011 is the third in a series of biennial international exhibitions that showcase the latest in laboratory and analytical equipment, instrumentation and services. The last two exhibitions in 2007 and 2009 had attracted the participation of all major laboratory equipment, instrumentation and service providers from all over the world. We expect LabAsia 2011 to be even better and bigger with more companies from North America, European Union and Asian countries taking part.

As many of you are aware, Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM) is a professional scientific organisation incorporated under the Chemists Act 1975 on November 01, 1977 to regulate the practice of chemistry, represent the chemistry profession and promote the advancement of chemistry in Malaysia. IKM members comprise chemists, quality control and assurance officers from the manufacturing and various sectors, academics from universities and other institutions of higher learning, research scientists from research and development institutions, and, chemists and science officers from various government departments and agencies.

One of the main objectives of LabAsia 2011 is to meet the needs of our members and various professionals form the industries in sourcing for the latest in laboratory equipment, instrumentation and analytical techniques and services. It is thus a very good opportunity for manufacturers and providers of these equipment, instrumentation and services to showcase their latest products and services.

LabAsia is the biggest laboratory exhibition in ASEAN and promises to be an even bigger and better event with participation from companies from all over the world. We are expecting a big group pavilion from China, India, Germany and Singapore. Our Event Manager, ECMI Trade Fairs SEA Sdn Bhd has been entrusted to manage this exhibition and make it an exciting and excellent exhibition with participation from all parties.

In conjunction with LabAsia 2011, IKM is organising two major international scientific meetings. The first is the IUPAC International Conference on Chemical Research Applied to World Needs, or CHEMRAWN 2011. With the focus on “Renewable and Sustainable Energy from Biological Sources”, CHEMRAWN 2011 will showcase the latest research, technology and innovation in renewable and sustainable energy. It will be attended by top scientists, industrialists and decision makers from all over the world.

The other scientific event is the 13th International Symposium on Advances in Extraction Technologies or ExTech 2011. The ExTech series of international symposia has been held all over the world; but this is the first time it is being held in Asia, our own Kuala Lumpur, in 2011. ExTech 2011 will feature the latest in extraction technologies, separation science and the ensuring analytical techniques. It is especally useful for our scientists working in all areas who are engaging in extraction, separation and analytical sciences.

On behalf of IKM, I would like to invite all of you, manufacturers, suppliers and service providers, and scientists and all users of these equipment and services, to participate in LabAsia 2011. I am sure that it will be an excellent exhibition for all of you.

We look forward to seeing you in LabAsia 2011.
